JFM provides air emissions data collection and computer modeling
services for purposes of assisting clients in providing regulatory
authorities with the requisite information needed to secure Certificates
of Approval for industrial air emissions. Formerly, only larger
emitters of waste into the atmosphere had reason to be concerned
with the environmental quality and control of their air emissions,
but this is no longer the case in most jurisdictions.
In Ontario for example, even the smallest neighborhood
auto body repair or woodworking shop likely requires a Certificate
of Approval (i.e. a permit) to exhaust their air emissions outdoors.
These enterprises are also required to collect and file the necessary
data required by the issuing authority for evaluation of the application
for the permit, i.e. the authority's determination as to whether
the emissions are acceptable under the regulations or whether abatement
equipment must first be installed prior to the granting of a permit.
In the absence of having secured the necessary Certificates of Approval,
any business large or small risks closure of their operations until
such time as they can obtain the required permits. Even a temporary
stoppage caused in this manner could be disastrous for the business,
especially to a smaller enterprise.
JFM also provides services associated with the aquisition of certificates of approval to operate stationary and mobile industrial sewage treatment equipment (as defined under section 53 of the Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA)).
JFM can also assist in performing the necessary
assessment work and data gathering functions for clients seeking
to obtain other environmentally related certificates and permits,
e.g. in connection with the testing, documentation and regular inspection
of water works facilities. (also required under the OWRA)
